Starbucks Nostalgia and Secrets

I love Starbucks for the convenience and consistency I know I will get every time I walk in. Sure it may not be the BEST coffee, but there is something to be said about the "prestige" of the overpriced coffee. Its a great treat that can bring a lot of joy and spark nostalgia. For most of us, the first "fancy" coffee drink or even cup of coffee we ever tried probably came from Starbucks. It was a big deal and our mothers had to pay the price. Why is Starbucks successful? Well Starbucks really isn't just about the coffee - its about the brand. You've got to hand it to Starbucks in the sense that they are a great company. Just take a peak at their mission statement: “To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time”.

So getting to the real point of this post - have you ever tried something from Starbucks Secret Menu? Maybe I've been living under a rock, but I am now obsessed with Starbucks Secret "Medicine Ball" Tea. I heard talk of this mystical creation and so far both Starbucks locations I have been to have known about the secret item. Additionally, my two barista friends that previously worked at Starbucks knew about the creation.

-Jade Citrus Mint Tea

-Peach Tranquility Tea

Apparently the tea is supposed to be good if you are feeling down and I can attest to feeling great and energized after drinking the tea. Most recently I bought all the ingredients they use to make it at the store and have been making it from home. Luckily, Starbucks tea is just their Teavana brand. I buy "Simply Lemonade" which is only 25 calories to reduce the sugar content.

Get on out there to your local Starbucks and test your baristas' secret menu knowledge. If they know the drink, you'll be sure to get a cool look, as you have just joined the secret society of Medicine Ball tea drinkers!
